New large animal reproduction simulators moved in

Four new large animal reproduction simulators have been moved into The Clinical and Professional Skills Center. Getting them into the Skills Center required creativity and teamwork.
The models were shipped from Canada and arrived in ginormous wooden crates. To move them from the loading dock into the building, our Facilities and Instructional Design team used furniture dollies and the base of one of the crates to fashion a giant skateboard that the simulators could sit on while being moved with a skid loader.
The models are made of fiberglass, so they weren’t heavy, but they were so large they just barely fit inside our elevator. Once out of the elevator, we were finally able to set them up in the Skills Center.
The Hereford Dystocia Simulator, Holstein Dystocia Simulator, and Equine Palpation/Colic Simulator can be used by students at every level of clinical skills training from handling practice to venipuncture, bandaging and radiograph.
Thank you to the generosity of donors for funding the purchase of these new simulators and for helping Ohio State Be The Model® veterinary college.
