Our Dublin Veterinary Medical Center provides same-day urgent care services during evening, weekend, and holiday hours. 

You and your pet have an alternative to visiting a full-scale emergency hospital when immediate attention is warranted, but emergency and critical care are not. 

The Anatomic Pathology Service provides autopsies (also known as necropsies) and specialized surgical pathology services to all Veterinary Hospitals within the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical System and the public via their referring veterinarian.

For Animal Owners: Please note, animals cannot be accepted without prior request submission from a referring veterinarian.

The anesthesia and perioperative pain management service at the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) provides comprehensive anesthetic and pain management for all species that are patients of the Veterinary Medical Center, with concentration on the common domestic species.

Are you experiencing a behavior problem with your pet? The Behavioral Medicine Clinic offers services to owners of companion animals with behavioral issues, including, but not limited to, human-directed aggression, inter-pet aggression, separation anxiety, inappropriate elimination, fears, phobias, compulsive behaviors, and cognitive dysfunction. We are experienced in addressing the behavior problems of dogs and cats and the concerns of their families.

Our Canine Sports Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation service uses rehabilitation therapy to assist recovery in canine veterinary patients and to improve or maintain strength, stamina, and body condition in otherwise healthy patients. 

The Cardiology and Interventional Medicine Service at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center offers state-of-the-art diagnostic evaluation and therapy of animals with cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, or those requiring minimally-invasive treatment options.

The Clinical Pathology Laboratories provide diagnostic service and professional laboratory expertise to all Veterinary Hospitals within the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical System, referring veterinarians, and the public via their referring veterinarian.  In addition to diagnostic services and specimen analysis, the clinical laboratories provide valuable case material for teaching veterinary medical students and preparing residents for specialty board certification in veterinary pathology, clinical pathology, internal medicine, and surgery.

The Gift of Life 

Sometimes our beloved pets have emergencies and illnesses, presenting a critical need for blood products. The Animal Blood Bank within the Veterinary Medical Center ensures our hospital feline and canine patients have access to blood products at a moment's notice. 

Veterinarians and veterinary students can learn more about our  available blood products, protocols for their safe use, and emergency acquisition. 

We are available to assist in the diagnosis and management of dogs and cats with gastrointestinal disorders, liver or pancreatic diseases, kidney or bladder diseases, upper and lower airway diseases (including nasal disease), endocrine and other metabolic disorders, and infectious diseases. 

The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service at the Veterinary Medical Center at Ohio State University provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for companion animals with neurological conditions.

Welcome to the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s pet diet information center. This resource was created to help you choose a food that is a good fit for your pet. The first step is considering your pet; is it a cat or dog, how old is it, how active is it, what is its body condition? With this information in hand, our diet search database has a wide range of foods, from generally available commercial foods to foods created to meet owner desires for “holistic”, “organic”, or diets that contain (or exclude) specific ingredients. Some therapeutic foods (to be used under veterinary supervision to manage certain health conditions and diseases) also are listed. This database is not meant to be comprehensive, but to provide examples of some of the many diets available, and to permit comparison among them.

The Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery service at the Veterinary Medical Center campus and Dublin hospital locations, offers comprehensive surgical care for dogs and cats with orthopedic conditions.

The Soft Tissue Surgery Service at the Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center provides general surgical care for dogs and cats. The unit offers specialized surgical management of skin and organ diseases (orthopedic and neurological diseases are managed by other services). In addition, specialists primarily manage and supervise elective surgical procedures performed by senior veterinary students, interns, and residents.

Our Dermatology service is currently unavailable. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 

The Dermatology and Otology Service at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center offers comprehensive care for companion and equine animals with skin and ear conditions and diseases.

The Equine Emergency and Critical Care Service within the Galbreath Equine Center at the Ohio State University offers 24-hour emergency and state-of-the-art intensive care for all equine medical and surgical emergencies, including neonatal emergencies.

The equine internal medicine service within the Galbreath Equine Center offers state-of-the-art, comprehensive diagnosis and care of all equids, including but not limited to horses, ponies and foals. Our outstanding Internal Medicine faculty see all types of medicine cases and are equipped to handle routine and complex conditions. Each faculty member also has special areas of interest. 

The Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center offers on-farm, equine ambulatory services across the Greater Columbus area. Our services are available through our Galbreath Equine Center in Columbus or our Large Animal Services in Marysville.  Our equine team provides exceptional general and specialty care to your horse. Whether you have a show horse, pleasure horse or a pasture pet, we want to bring the best in veterinary care to keep your equines healthy and happy. 

The Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is one of only a few places in North America to offer evaluation and comprehensive treatment of tumors in horses. We are dedicated to improving the quality and length of life of horses of all ages affected by tumors. 

The science of sports medicine continues to evolve to better support and improve the performance of hard-working athletes- including horses. Lameness is one of the most common causes of performance problems in our equine athletes, and it often can be effectively diagnosed and treated through progressive equine sports medicine.

The equine surgery service within the Galbreath Equine Center is led by ACVS board-certified equine surgeons, including one surgeon who is also board-certified in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation. Each equine surgery faculty veterinarian sees multiple types of elective orthopedic, soft tissue and emergency surgical conditions in a state-of-the-art hospital and performance evaluation facility. 

Our Large Animal Services veterinary team located in Marysville, Ohio provides on farm, individual and herd-based primary care, year-round, 24/7 emergency care, diagnostic services, and routine surgeries for cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, camelids, horses, whitetail deer, and backyard poultry.  Routine surgeries, exams and other procedures are usually performed on the farm, but in special cases, an animal can be hospitalized and cared for in our clinic. 

On farm veterinary services are available within a 60-mile radius of our Marysville, Ohio facility.

The mission of the Honoring the Bond Program is to recognize and honor the human-animal bond by providing support and resources to animal owners. Our social workers are here to help owners of animals being treated at The Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center. 

We appreciate advance scheduling of appointments to increase efficiency and allow us to plan for anticipated procedures to ensure the best care for your animals.  We understand that emergent conditions do not offer the convenience of being able to plan in advance and may require immediate veterinary attention. If able, please call to schedule as far in advance as possible to ensure a place on our on schedule. Please be aware that emergencies occur throughout the day that may cause a schedule back up or need to reschedule your appointment. Although uncommon, we will try to make you aware of these circumstances as soon as possible so that you can plan accordingly.  We apologize in advance and thank you for your understanding.

The Integrated Oncology Services at Ohio State’s Veterinary Medical Center is comprised of a team of cancer doctors with specialties in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. Working together - and with you and your veterinarian - from initial consultation and diagnosis, through the prescription and implementation of a treatment plan.

The Medical Oncology Service at Ohio State's Veterinary Medical Center provides therapy for a variety of tumor types in both large and small animal patients. With many chemotherapeutic treatment options available, the goal of our board-certified medical oncologists is to find the approach that works best for you and your pet.

The Clinical Microbiology Service at the OSU-VMC provides testing in the areas of bacteriology, mycology, serology and molecular diagnostics. With our assistance, clinicians provide diagnoses and treatments to the 57,000 patients examined in the OSU-VMC every year. We also offer our services to primary veterinary practices, animal resource facilities, and researchers within or outside the university.

The Comparative Ophthalmology service at the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center offers comprehensive care for companion animals (dogs, cats) with eye abnormalities and conditions. Dogs and cats can be examined at either of our two locations - on campus or at our Dublin facility. 

All members of our service strive to provide exceptional patient care and service to our clients and referring veterinarians. We also aim to provide an excellent clinical learning experience for our future veterinary colleagues.

The Clinical Veterinary Parasitology Diagnostic Laboratory provides services to the hospital's veterinarians, as well as the veterinarians of Ohio, and the United States. We also support the research community of OSU and other public and private entities involved in animal health.

When your dog or cat has an emergent, serious or life-threatening condition and needs the very best veterinary emergency and critical care (ECC) services, Ohio State’s Veterinary Medical Center team is here to help. Our board-certified faculty specialists lead a team of clinicians (residents and interns), highly-skilled registered veterinary technicians, vet assistants and graduating veterinary students to provide the fastest, most comprehensive and compassionate care. From the moment you arrive, you can take comfort in knowing your dog or cat will be cared for by a team of professionals who consider your pet as they would their own.

From puppies and kittens to senior dogs and cats, our compassionate team of clinical faculty, registered veterinary technicians, vet assistants and senior veterinary students provide the full spectrum of care to meet your needs and those of your pets.

As part of the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center, the Frank Stanton Veterinary Spectrum of Care Clinic provides comprehensive care to our patients – including daytime primary, urgent and emergency care - for dogs and cats in a state-of-the-art teaching facility. 

The Radiation Oncology Service at Ohio State's Veterinary Medical Center provides radiation therapy for a variety of tumor types in both large and small animal patients. We are the only facility in central Ohio to offer stereotactic radiation therapyand intensity modulated radiation therapy provided by board-certified radiation oncologists. With many treatment options and comprehensive, targeted treatment plans, the radiation oncology service aims to provide the best quality of life and patient care while also embracing advancements in the fields of radiology, oncology, and radiation treatments.

The Reproductive Medicine Service (Theriogenology) handles all phases of breeding services including artificial insemination for a variety of large and small animal patients, advanced assisted reproductive techniques, breeding soundness evaluations of males and females, obstetrics, management of diseases or complications of the postpartum period, and medical or surgical management of diseases of the male and female reproductive tract.

The Surgical Oncology service at Ohio State's Veterinary Medical Center provides specialized surgical care for companion animals diagnosed with cancer. Surgery remains the most commonly prescribed treatment modality to veterinary patients with cancer, and in addition results in the more cures, and greater long term control of the disease.

Our pharmacy fills prescriptions for clients of the medical center. We fill inpatient and outpatient orders for all companion, farm, and equine animal patients of our specialty hospitals. Unfortunately, we are legally unable to fill prescriptions from veterinarians outside of the veterinary medical center. We offer compounding services for several oral and topical medications. We can process refill requests usually within 48 hours. Compounded medications can take longer depending on the product.

The Veterinary Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging service provides complete diagnostic imaging services to all hospital patients and teleradiology to referring veterinarians. Our professional faculty and staff offer world-class, timely service to our veterinary patients and clinicians.
