What to Expect - Hospital for Companion Animals

IMPORTANT NOTICE: 

  • Disposable medical face masks are required for entry to the hospitals. Please no cloth masks. 

  • Only one owner may accompany pets into the VMC. Once history is taken, we ask that you please exit the VMC. 
  • Visitors will not be permitted to remain in the hospital lobby or visit their pet, with the exception of euthanasia cases. 

In response to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the Veterinary Medical Center continues to enforce safety measures in alignment with the recommendations of our state and federal health officials. Please see the information below for details on our plan to protect our customers, clinicians and staff.

 

Prior to Entering the Hospital for Companion Animals

Before entering the hospital lobby, we ask that you please use hand sanitizer, provided in our entryway, and as an added safety precaution, to switch your cloth mask with a disposable medical mask that will be provided for you.  

For customers who are immunocompromised, ill, dropping off injured pets or otherwise unable to enter the hospital, curbside drop-off service will be made available. We ask that you please notify us prior to your scheduled appointment so that we may make appropriate arrangements and provide you with specific information.

 

What to Expect During Your Visit

Upon entering the lobby, please proceed to the reception desk to register. If all customer service representatives are busy, please wait in the marked spots (numbered 1-3), with appropriate physical distancing for everyone's safety.

  • Once registered, a customer service greeter, wearing a facemask and face shield will meet you and, based on your personal preference, guide you and your pet to an exam room or a designated safe zone within the lobby.
  • Once seated in an exam room or designated lobby area safe zone, a clinical team member, wearing appropriate PPE and practicing safe physical distancing (indicated by floor markings), will meet you to take a brief history of your pet.

  • Exam room doors may remain open if preferred.

  • Floor tape or signage has been installed to assist clients and clinical staff with physical distancing (min. 6 ft.).

  • A full length, stand behind, Plexiglass shield on rollers is available as added protection during the consult, if requested.

  • Exam rooms and lobby area safe zones are disinfected after every visit.

  • Hand sanitizers are available throughout the areas.

  • After taking a brief history, the VMC clinical team member will take your pet back to the treatment area and you will be directed to the appropriate lobby exit.

  • You are welcome to wait in your car in our client parking lot, in the outdoor seating area (weather-permitting), or you can ask to be notified when your pet is available to be discharged.

  • When your pet is ready for discharge, the doctor will call you to discuss the details of the visit, answer questions, and review discharge instructions.  

  • A member of the Client Services team will call you and either collect payment by phone or ask you to stop at the front desk so we may collect payment for the visit.

  • After payment is complete, please pull up to the designated Discharge Pick-Up area marked by signage outside the main entrance to the hospital and remain in your vehicle.

  • A clinical team member (wearing PPE) will bring your pet to you and assist with getting them into your vehicle.
