The Advocates & Allies for Equity initiative, which is part of the president’s 2020 Vision of inclusive excellence, helps move us toward the strategic plan goal of creating “a culture of innovation and diversity at Ohio State.” You can participate in this initiative and help establish a more equitable environment for women and other underrepresented groups in your unit/department by requesting an Ally facilitation.
Contact The Women’s Place, and we will guide you through the simple process of scheduling an Ally facilitation for men in your department. A number of departments and units across the university are joining the president’s diversity efforts by building a cross-campus network of male Allies for equity at Ohio State.

WGSS and TWP present CCreating Computing Programs for Underrepresented Girls and Women

Dr. Kimberly Scott will discuss how to create initiatives for underrepresented girls, the accompanying challenges, and affordances in creating the nationally renowned program, COMPUGIRLS. Scott is a professor and the founding executive director of the Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology (CGEST) at Arizona State University. The center is focused on exploring, identifying, and creating innovative scholarship about underrepresented girls in STEM.

Apply for CDW Development Grants
Critical Difference for Women (CDW) is accepting applications for Development Grants. The grants are designed to facilitate career mobility of students, staff and faculty women. Some examples of activities and purchases considered for the grant are attendance/presentation at professional conferences; professional development seminars; developing articles or books for publication; equipment/supply costs; etc. Typically grant awards range from $500-1,000. Apply by October 1, 2017.
TWP offers scholarships to ACE Women's Network, Ohio 2017 Conference

The American Council on Education Women’s Network, Ohio (ACE-WNO) 19th Annual Conference is a professional development opportunity that offers a presidential panel, networking, mentoring and a variety of workshops and breakout sessions.
Conference sessions are intended for women college and university administrators, faculty, and staff to create opportunities for deep discussion and skill-building related to professional development and to inform attendees on current higher education issues and trends.

83 CDW Re-entry Scholarships awarded for 2017-18
The Women's Place awarded 83 women students scholarships through the Critical Difference for Women (CDW) program. The Coca-Cola Foundation provided a portion of the funds for these Re-entry Scholarships, which assist women who have interrupted their education, at any level, to earn a degree at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional school level. THANK YOU to the CDW scholarship committee.
Watch for HERS and ACE scholarships
The Women’s Place (TWP) is committed to expanding opportunities for women's growth, leadership, and power. TWP grants scholarships for leadership development offered by Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) and the American Council on Education (ACE). We will begin accepting applications November 2017.
ASFW Lunch & Learn: Title IX for OSU Employees

The Association of Staff and Faculty Women (ASFW) presents a Lunch and Learn program with Kellie Brennan, director of Compliance and Title IX/Clergy Act coordinator for the Office of University Compliance and Integrity. Kellie will explain how the scope of Title IX extends to protecting faculty and staff from gender discrimination.
