Dr. Gebreyes, DVM, PhD, received the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award from the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine for his role as a “leading voice and innovative researcher in global health medicine.”
Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Susan Johnson, was recognized by Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine for her "distinguished career as a clinician, scientist, teacher and mentor."
Krista La Perle, DVM, PhD, became president of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) at the ACVP Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia. She had served the past year as ACVP president-elect.
When Katie met Tommy she was volunteering with the college’s Veterinary Outreach program This program partners the college with Faithful Forgotten Best Friends (FFBF), a 501c3 nonprofit focused on improving the quality of life for the pets of Franklin County's underserved and vulnerable populations. The nonprofit provides pet owners with food, basic veterinary care, and vaccinations. Tommy was brought to FFBF by his original owner after he began showing signs of two fairly common skin disorders: mange and scabies.
The Ohio State University College of Veterinary is a recipient of the 2017 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
