The Role of Truck Wash Practices in Dissemination of Salmonella and Campylobacter in Commercial Swine Production

This goal of this project is to identify factors that may contribute to introduction and dissemination of the food borne pathogens Salmonella and Campylobacter in swine by investigating the role of trucks and truck washing systems, nursery facilities, finishing facilities, lagoons, holding pens at processing facilities, and the evisceration process as potential factors. This will identify various point sources of infection so intervention strategies may be implemented.
