Maine Department of Agriculture

Job shadowing with State Veterinarian, State Lab director and other field employees. Field
work with Maine state veterinarians involving farm visits, milk quality
evaluations on dairy farms, animal welfare investigations; laboratory
testing in the Maine State Federal Diagnostic Laboratory;
University of Maine at Orono, Maine State Library, participation on large animal veterinarian continuing education meeting
prepared for anything, be on time, a sense of humor, a good
conversationalist is a plus for those long rides between Maine farms,
proper protective clothing (coveralls, boots), an open mind.
Student will be supervised by the State Veterinarian but will also be riding with other State of Maine employees.

Student will have access to all the veterinarians in the Maine
Department of Agriculture in person, by e-mail or by phone at least 8
hours per day and at least 40 hours per week and on weekends if needed.
