Study shows potential for pig virus to infect other animals, people

A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences demonstrated that a porcine deltacoronavirus protein can bind to aminopeptidase N receptors on the cells of humans and other species, suggesting that the virus may pose a threat to human and animal health. Researchers from The Ohio State Univetrsity and Utrecht University in the Netherlands will next look for blood antibodies that would indicate the virus has already infected people.
