The Research Methodology Center in the College of Education and Human Ecology is sponsoring our First Annual Interdisciplinary Methods Festival this year at the Ohio State Research Commons. This unique event brings together Ohio State faculty, students, researchers and staff across disciplines and fields of study to talk about research methods. The primary goals of the festival are to (1) increase awareness of new and innovative methods, (2) Build methods-focused research networks across disciplines, (3) Increase capacity and motivation to utilize emerging methods and (4) Learn more about the needs of our communities.
Festival programming will consist of a wide variety of brief presentations from faculty across the campus – each featuring a new method or perspective on research. Themes for these presentations include Team/Collaborative Science, Capacity Building in Research Methods, New Technology, and Emerging Methods. We will also be featuring an interactive poster session where graduate students from a variety of colleges will discuss the methods used in their research, and receive feedback from experts on how to strengthen and extend their work.
In addition to talks, panel discussions, and poster sessions, the Festival will provide numerous opportunities to build your network, get connected to resources, and share your thoughts about how we can expand and improve the capacity of our communities to conduct rigorous, high-quality, and impactful research!
As part of this event, Dr. Rebecca Garabed with the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine will be participating in a discussion of the challenges in ensuring that our campus community stays abreast of emerging methodologies and technologies for research. This panel, comprised of Dr. Garabed and other faculty from across the campus, will lead an interactive discussion of methods education and professional development. This event will be held on July 19, 2017 from 9:00 - 10:30 am in the Ohio State Research Commons located on the 3rd Floor of the 18th Avenue Library on campus.
