Board-certified in Equine Surgery and Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Bertone has served as an equine orthopedic surgeon at The Ohio State University Galbreath Equine Center for more than 25 years, managing cases and
Developing a reputation for a quality and productive research program and a strong orthopedic elective surgical caseload, Dr. Bertone has been recognized as one of the top extramurally funded researchers in the college, with more than 180 peer-reviewed scientific publications. She received her DVM degree (1982) from and completed her internship (1983) at Cornell University. She completed a combined surgery residency/PhD program in 1987 at Colorado State University and joined the surgery faculty at Louisiana State University that same year.
Dr. Bertone will still have a home in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and will be helping with her transition out of the clinics. She will continue to help foster the Consortium for the Advancement of Neuromusculoskeletal Sciences and Locomotion and mentor graduate students in the College of Veterinary Medicine during the next year.
