It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Dr. Barbara Wolfe, Associate Professor in Veterinary Preventive Medicine, has accepted a new position as the Chief Scientific Officer at the Morris Animal Foundation. During her time at the College, Dr. Wolfe has been instrumental in the creation of the new Wildlife and Ecosystem Health program including the establishment of our zoo medicine residency program. Dr. Wolfe’s efforts have resulted in a strong working relationship between the CVM, the Columbus Zoo, and the Wilds, that has provided both professional DVM and graduate students many unique learning opportunities. While we are sorry to lose Dr. Wolfe, her new position will allow her the opportunity for broad impact on animal health through scientific discovery. Dr. Wolfe and I are working closely with Dean Moore and Dr. Lord to create a transition plan to ensure that existing commitments to students are not significantly impacted, and we remain committed to furthering Ecosystem Health. The Morris Animal Foundation is exceedingly fortunate to have someone with Dr. Wolfe’s commitment to animal health and well-being as their new CSO, and we wish her the best in her new endeavor.
