When you bring your animal to our hospital for specialty or wellness care, a fully dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled team of caregivers will devote their time to perform accurate and thorough examinations to restore your animal’s health. This team is led by faculty clinicians and comprised of residents, interns, registered veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, client services staff, and senior veterinary students. Your primary care or family veterinarian is an integral and vitally important part of our healthcare team – he/she plays an instrumental role in recognizing the need for further evaluation and/or advanced veterinary medical care, providing medically important history, prior evaluation/treatment, and other useful information, and plays a crucial role in follow-up evaluation and treatment. We communicate with them before, during and after your pet’s visit or hospitalization here at the Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center.
We are committed to providing the highest quality and standards of veterinary medical and surgical care and treatment for our patients, and exceptional care and communication with our patients’ owners and caretakers. We understand that your pet is a highly valued member of your family and we share your desire to maintain or improve his/her health and quality of life to the fullest extent possible.
Because we are an academic veterinary medical center, our veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and staff play a vital role in educating 550 professional veterinary students each year, as well as providing training for veterinary specialists and advancing veterinary medicine through state-of-the-art technologies, and leading-edge clinical discoveries, clinical trials, and other services. Senior veterinary students learn all aspects of animal care through hands-on participation under direct clinical faculty supervision. Veterinarians obtain further experience and training in advanced training programs (interns/residents) and advance their knowledge and technical skills in various specialties.
