Equine On Farm Ambulatory Care

The Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center offers on-farm, equine ambulatory services across the Greater Columbus area. Our services are available through our Galbreath Equine Center in Columbus or our Large Animal Services in Marysville.  Our equine team provides exceptional general and specialty care to your horse. Whether you have a show horse, pleasure horse or a pasture pet, we want to bring the best in veterinary care to keep your equines healthy and happy.

Service Highlights

  • Wellness care including vaccinations, deworming protocols, coggins tests and certificates (available online), health certificates (available online), nutritional counseling

  • Lameness exams and treatment including diagnostic blocks, ultrasound, PRP, IRAP, shockwave therapy, and intra-articular injections

  • Marysville equine faculty clinician certified in medical manipulation (chiropractic care) 

  • Pre-purchase exams utilizing state-of-the-art equipment including digital radiography, digital ultrasound, power endoscope

  • Foal exams (IgG evaluation, plasma transfusion), neurologic exams, ophthalmic exams, dentistry, dermatology

  • Reproductive management services available including artificial insemination, reproductive ultrasound, problem breeders

  • Surgical services including castration (routine and cryptorchid), Caslick's, periosteal stripping, check ligament desmotomy, neurectomy, hernia 

  • Emergencies services including colic, dystocia, lacerations, ophthalmic emergencies

  • Specialty and ancillary services and consults through the Veterinary Medical Center and Galbreath Equine Center

Special Equipment & Technology

What to Expect

  1. If you are not a client currently you will be asked to provide personal information (name/address/phone number) and information about your horse (name/age/breed/owner's name/location), and information about methods of payment. Our staff will breifly discuss what the call is concerning and then either connect you with a Field Service veterinarian immediately or leave a message to call you back.
  2. If we have not seen your horse in the past year, you will be asked to provide a credit card number as assurance of payment for the services that will be provided.
  3. Once the doctor has seen your horse he/she will write up a bill. This bill can either be electronically mailed to your home and will need to be paid at that time or it can be paid at the time of service.
