Honoring the Bond (HTB)

The role of the members of the HTB team is to provide emotional support, education, and resources to pet owners. They can help process emotions if you have received difficult news about your pet or are having difficulty making treatment or end-of-life decisions. They can be present during euthanasia and are able to provide education and referrals for many matters having to do with end-of-life care. The Program Coordinator, Joelle Nielsen, has a graduate degree in Social Work (MSW) and is a licensed social worker. The HTB program is also a field placement site for social work interns that are completing their Master’s degree. Honoring the Bond services are free of charge and a referral to the program can be made by anyone, including the owner. To contact the program, you may e-mail joelle [dot] nielsen [at] cvm [dot] osu [dot] edu, call 247-8607 or ask your student or clinician to make a referral for you.
