  1. How does this service work?
    The OSU Teleradiology Service partners with DVM Insight to transmit images, clinical history and reports between referring veterinarians and OSU. A referring veterinarian downloads images and clinical history to the DVM Insight servers. A message is sent to OSU alerting the radiologists that case is ready for interpretation. Cases received by 3 p.m. on an OSU business day will be interpreted that day. For cases received after 3 p.m., we will try to send a report that day, but will definitely have a report within 24 business hours. Once an OSU radiologist finalizes their report, a fax and/or e-mail is sent to the referring veterinarian.
  2. What type of files can I send?
    The OSU Teleradiology Service only accepts DICOM images.
  3. What type of cases can I send?
    The OSU Teleradiology Service will interpret radiographs (CR/DR), computed tomography studies (CT) and magnetic resonance images (MRI). Interpretation of static ultrasound images is challenging because of the operator dependent nature of ultrasonography. Therefore, we do not provide ultrasound consultations.
  4. How much does image interpretation cost?
    Radiographs - $45; upper GI studies - $75; CT - $75; MRI - $75.
  5. How will my clinic be billed?
    The OSU Veterinary Medical Center business office will set up an account for your clinic. We will send you a monthly statement or set up payment using a credit card.
  6. How to I get set up with OSU Teleradiology?
    Contact Dr. Tod Drost at 614-292-1040. Dr. Drost will contact DVM Insight, informing them of our new partnership. DVM Insight will contact your clinic and establish a time for system set up. This set up will include downloading software needed for transmitting images and clinical history. There is no set up fee.
  7. Do I need any special software?
    Yes. DVM Insight will provide the software for transmitting images and clinical history when they help you set up your teleradiology system.
  8. How do I get my image interpretation reports?
    Reports are faxed and or e-mailed to you once finalized by the radiologists. Additionally, all reports are stored on the DVM Insight server and can be accessed from anywhere you have an Internet connection.
