Foster and Adoptive Care

Many of our dog and cat donors are rescued from desperate situations…

The Ohio State University Animal Blood Bank often rescues dogs and cats in need of loving, safe foster homes. Our goal is to ensure that these furry friends have a better and healthy life, and in exchange for their gift of blood, we do our best to place those in need in qualified foster homes. Many foster homes turn into adoptive situations.

It won't always be possible for us to provide information on our web site in a timely manner for those requiring foster care, and it is our desire to build a network of pre-qualified foster homes to which we can turn when a dog or cat has the greatest need.

Do you have a lot of love to give? Please contact us to intiate the pre-screening process required for the foster care program. Some of the animals have very special emotional or physical needs. The well-being of our donors is our first concern, and we have stringent requirements.

In fulfilling our mission, our donors receive excellent medical attention and superior nutrition, courtesy of The IAMS Company. All our donors are tested for transmissable diseases in order to maintain the highest standards of safety and excellence for our Blood Products. In accepting a dog or cat for foster care or permanent adoption through the Animal Blood Bank, we require regular participation and communication with our Blood Donor program.
