New Employee Resources

The College of Veterinary Medicine is excited you have chosen to join our team!  We believe in Veterinary Medicine and work hard to support and adhere to our vision and values.  We look forward to working with you in a long and productive relationship.  Don’t hesitate to contact your department chair or director, your supervisors/manager, and/or your departmental human resources professional if you have any questions throughout your first few days or months here in CVM and at The Ohio State University.

New faculty and staff should review "Getting Established" - a checklist which will help you understand and ensure completion of each step necessary to get your employment established at the university. Once you receive your computer access, faculty and staff should review the University’s New Employee On-Line Orientation presentation and sign up to attend a New Faculty and Staff Health Retirement Information Forum.

And don't forget you can also contribute towards the success of the college and the veterinary medical center through one of our many advancement campaigns.  Check out Making a Difference (Information on how you can make a gift to CVM)

REMINDER! New Workers’ Compensation Processes for Those Injured on the Job – VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE!

On January 1, 2013, The Ohio State University will shift from a state funded to a self-insured workers’ compensation program. This will allow Ohio State to achieve greater control over claims management, as well as medical and indemnity costs, thus realizing greater overall savings. As importantly, this will speed up the process while ensuring the same high level of service. We will be communicating this change to all faculty, staff, and student employees.

For all injuries that occur on or after January 1, 2013, there will be a new claims filing process including new workers’ compensation policy numbers.  In addition, please review the new “Self-Reporting” packet.  This packet contains all of the necessary information for individuals to self-report an injury/illness caused at work – you can find the packet at http://hr.osu.edu/benefits/InjuryReportingPacket.pdf  It is recommended that supervisors print off the Workers’ Compensation flyer and post it in their areas.

When You or Someone Else Gets Hurt – Support injured faculty, staff, and student employees: If someone in your area reports a work-related injury, first assist them in seeking immediate treatment in the event of an emergency. Second, share the Self-Injury Reporting Packet. The packet contains information about the claims filing process, and a list of providers. Be sure to include the appropriate policy number for Vet Med:  20005754-0: The Ohio State University .
