Kenya Medical Research Institute

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI): KEMRI is a state corporation responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya and has become a leader in human health research in the region. The institute currently ranks as one of the leading centers of excellence in health research both in Africa as well as globallyKEMRI is mandated to conduct research in human health; to co-operate with other organizations and institutions of higher learning in training programs and on matters of relevant research; to liaise with other relevant bodies within and outside Kenya carrying out research and  related activities and to disseminate and translate research findings for evidence-based policy formulation and implementation. KEMRI has currently 14 Centers and one of the centers, Centre for Microbiology Research (CMR), is the main collaborating unit in the VPH-Biotech Global Consortium. KEMRI partners  with OSU  particularly in strengthening research capacity in the region in the areas identified by the consortium as it is one of the leading centers of excellence in health research both in Africa as well as globally. Together with OSU, KEMRI will play key role in capacity strengthening in research training in relevant areas in the region. The center also coordinates the WHO Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) external quality assurance program.http://www.kemri.org/
