The Food Animal Club features many exciting wetlabs throughout the year. Some examples include:
Students attend a demonstration session to learn how to use an ultrasound machine and learn what to look for in a pregnancy check. Students then use ultrasound equipment to practice ultrasound pregnancy checks on sheep.
Students attend a short informational session for an overview of bovine lower limb anatomy and trimming techniques. Students then practice hoof trimming skills with a wide variety of tools on the lab specimens.
Students learn the skills necessary to perform a safe and thorough exam on a bovine patient.
Students learn the aspects of teat surgery and have a chance to apply these skills on the lab specimens.
