Externship for General Practice
VACC will provide educational opportunities in a general practice setting. We will offer experienced based learning with our very busy 6 doctor staff.
Our team of 6 associate veterinarians will train within our state-of-the-art facility. Regular procedures include but are not limitesd to laproscopic surgery, orthopeidic surgery, laser surgery, therapuitc laser, endoscopy, and digital radiology.
We offer a full library of refernce material including periodicals. We operate with a paperlight computer client database where raidology, labwork, and medical history are integrated. We have an in-house cytologist on staff who does a preliminary review of most samples before pathology reports are returned. Our inhouse lab consists of the Idexx catalyst, lasercyte, and coag machine. All diiferentials are read in house. We regularly attend and host MVMA approved continuing education as well as run monthly staff training workshops.
Students are expected to actively engage with our staff and follow case work ups and lend a hand when needed.
Students will have free and direct access to veterinarians up to 40 hours a week. If a student expresses a particular interest in certain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, they can arrange their schedule to be present during such activities.
