Details
- Clinical rotation in Avian and Zoological Medicine
- Diagnosis and treatment of exotic species, including small mammals, birds, reptiles and wildlife species
Associate Veterinarians and special expertise available
- All specialty services of the Teaching Hospital, including small and large animal medicine and surgery
- 4 faculty members in Avian and Zoological medicine as well as 3 residents
- Dr. Juergen Schumacher, Assoc. Prof., Service Chief (Clinical Supervisor of elective)
Educational Resources
- Complete library of the College of Veterinary Medicine
- Daily rounds
- Student presentation at the end of rotation
Responsibilities
- Receiving appointments
- Diagnostics and treatment of exotic pets and wildlife
- Medicine and surgery of exotic animals
- Participate in after hours emergency duty
Student Supervision
- 8 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Clinician always available for consultation and back-up (24 hours a day)
