Mixed Large Animal Practice. 85% equine, 15% food animal, llama, alpaca, pot belly pigs. The practice is about 80% ambulatory and 20% in clinic
This is a primary care equine practice. We service a wide variety of disciplines including: western horses, eventing, jumping, dressage, race horses, and backyard horses. We have a large case load consisting of lameness, emergency cases, dentistry, reproduction, preventative care, and general medicine and surgery. We are also a third year rotation site for Veterinary students at Western University of Health Sciences.
We have a library of reference materials, journals, and we discuss cases on a regular basis.
Students are expected to report to the clinic and be an active participant in the cases. Depending on the case students will be asked to do physical exams, and may be asked to help assist with procedures.
students will be under the direct supervision of a veterinarian at all times. Students will have the opportunity to discuss cases and procedures at will with the veterinarians and technicians. This will be approximately 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week.
