This is a review of our Externship Guidelines:
1 The Dress Code is Casual Professional. Wear rubber sole shoes, and bring your scrubs. You must wear scrubs whenever you are in the Operating Room. No exceptions. We will provide you with a Tan LAB COAT to wear while you are in the exam rooms here.
2 Please make sure you are parked in the lot next to the hospital at 106 Hance Avenue. (You should have been e-mailed a map)
3 Please check in at reception by 7:15 am on your First Day. Let them know that you are a visiting Extern, and they should have an envelope for you. Ask them to page me, and I will meet you and I will then direct you to the Conference Room for Rounds. Grand Rounds begin at 7:30am, so please be prompt.
4 You will be given a temporary security badge and parking pass for your visit. These badges must be given back when you depart. Please return them, along with the lock & LAB COAT, to the Marketing Department in the envelope provided.
5 We have a very strict no-photo policy in the hospital, for the protection of our clients and employees. Any student found taking unauthorized pictures in the hospital may be asked to leave the program.
6 You are encouraged to attend daily Grand Rounds at 7:30am each morning and any lectures given in hospital during your Externship.
7 If you are going to be exposed to any type of radiation (x-ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, RT) during your rotation, please ask your supervisor for a radiation badge.
8 While here, please be advised that although we encourage your participation in cases and interaction with staff, we are liable for the care and treatment of our patients. We therefore must limit your clinical involvement to participation within RBVH approved guidelines. We appreciate your co-operation and anticipate a rewarding extern experience for you.

Since your school requires an evaluation form and you have not provided one to the Extern Coordinator Ms. Eileen Rochelle before your arrival, please make sure to give it along with the evaluation sheet provided in your packet to your supervising doctor the rotation you are on your last day with them. They will in turn, fill in the form and give it to me to send to your school if needed. We will also keep a copy of al evaluations in your file for review, in case you apply for an Internship at RBVH in the future.
The students are expected to be here at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. We have doctors on premise 24/7.
