College of Veterinary Medicine

Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic is a progressive 4-doctor practice located in an upscale suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are very client focused and offer excellent medical care to our patients. We have an excellent support staff, with a 1:3 doctor to tech ratio. Our newer facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics.
PVVC offers veterinary students general practice experience. We perform routine surgeries including spay, neuter, minor and advanced surgeries, dental services. We also offer ultrasound exams, digital radiography, in-house Idexx complete lab suite. We focus on preventative medicine and client education.

PVVC offers the students opportunity to work alongside out team of doctors, which have diverse experience and areas of interest. They will shadow in exam room appointments for both wellness and ill patients. We offer microchipping, nutritional and behavior counseling, parasitic prevention and control. They will also participate in the routine surgeries, anesthetic monitoring, radiography and ultrasound exams. Our Idexx laboratory suite allows us to perform in-house fecal, urinalysis, biochemistry profiles, CBC, coagulation times, thyroid and adrenal tests and more.

Dr . Brad Carmichael is an OSU alumni, as well as a member of AVMA, OVMA, PVMA.

Dr. Brad Carmichael sits on the board of the Vet Tech Institute and participates in practice management training there. He also particpates in veterinary practice management groups.

Student responsibilities would include to rotate around the hospital with the doctors in exam rooms and surgeries/procedures. They would be expected to learn our office protocols. Observe our client services and technical staff, as well as our our office managers. Also, include punctuality, work all hospital hours including weekends and evenings.

The student would be directly supervised by a veterinarian, making sure that laws for unlicensed students were observed.
