We would like to welcome you to our annual orientation for incoming Ohio State veterinary students being held on August 14, 15 and 16. Because beginning veterinary school is not merely another step in your academic journey, it is your entry into a particularly respected and honorable profession, attendance at all orientation activities is mandatory.

Much of the focus of these activities is on developing skills, ideas and attitudes that will assist you in making this transition to professional training, while having fun and getting to know each other. Most of you probably arrived at this point in your life through an innate drive to always "reach the top." Now that you are here, we are asking you to modify your view and see your peers as colleagues, not competitors. You are now working towards a common purpose of becoming the compassionate professional this vocation demands and deserves. It is imperative that you begin this journey with a common understanding of these goals.
