Two week clinical rotation in an AAHA certified small animal practice in southeastern Michigan.
Student will assist in the examination of animals seen at the hospital and surgical procedures performed. Student will also be asked to obtain samples for diagnostic testing of animals.
Hospital includes onsite Heska laboratory machines, surgical laser, medical therapy laser, ultrasound and digital radiography. Hospital has a large number of ferret clients with the majority being canine and feline.
Student will have access to numerous veterinary textbooks and all recent veterinary journals. Student will also have access to VIN. Hospital uses Infinity software. Possibility of local or state continuing education available depending on time of year.
Student will be expected to perform complete physical examination on animals and develop diagnostic plan. Student will be expected to interpret test results and make treatment recommendations for animals. Student will be responsible for obtaining diagnostic samples on animals. Student will be assisting in surgery in hospital and will need knowledge of good surgical technique. Student will be responsible for written records of patients seen.
Student will have approximately nine hours a day, either five or six days a week, working with veterinarians.
