Hands-on exposure to all aspects on generalized and special surgical and laparoscopic procedures. The student will go through orientation and will then be provided the opportunity for individual patient care with doctor supervision.

This practice is equipped with all the newest technological equipment including Med RX ear system, STORZ laparoscopic system, arthroscopy, endoscopy, surgical telescope, gastric feeding tube placement system, subcutaneous tube system, ultrasound, complete ASIF bone plating system, Kirstner system, power equipment including micro-air sagital, oscilating, and rotary system plus standard ASIF air drills, gas and steam sterlization, cryosurgery, Ellman radiosurgery, ligasure vessel sealer and more specialized equipment than you have ever seen. We have a complete lab using IDEXX lasercyte, catalyst, Snap Reader, and electrolytes. A video microscope is used for case discussion and training. The majority of our labwork is run "in house"
Associate Veterinarians and special expertise available
Robert Slobody, DVM: Although I am not board certified I have had a referral practice for 30 years. I have attended every major course available to learn my skills. Early in my career I spent one day a week with a board certified surgeon for a two year period.

Responsibilities
I have high expectations for anyone I am willing to spend time training. the student will be oriented and will shadow at first and then will be given cases to handle under supervision based on the skills the student shows. Independent work and exposure to the business and art of veterinary medicine.
Student Supervision
5 days - 60 hrs. per week; 24 hour access to Dr. Slobody
Housing
Yes, if needed the student will be provided a private room in Dr. Slobody's home.
