Livestock
Veterinary Services is a food animal practice in eastern North
Carolina. We specialize in swine medicine but also do some food animals
such as cattle, goats and sheep. Student externs will accompany and
assist veterinarians on herd visits and become familiar with swine
production systems and the diseases they encounter. They will learn
skills necessary to collect diagnostic samples for the diagnosis of
diseases and interpret the reults to be able to develop an intervention
to corrrect the problem. Students that are there at least 3 wks are
encouraged to work up a problem independently.
