24/7 Suicide Prevention Line: 1-800-273-8255
When you dial the national suicide prevention line, you are calling the crisis center closest to your location. After you call, you will hear a message saying you have reached the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You will hear hold music while your call is being routed. You will then be helped by a skilled, trained crisis worker who will carefully listen to your concerns and tell you about mental health services in your area. Your call is confidential and free. You can also visit http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ to chat with a crisis worker or for additional resources.
CCS serves the entire Ohio State campus. They provide individual, group and couples counseling; crisis debriefing; assistance with stress management, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, transitions in life, identity exploration, substance use, eating concerns, feeling overwhelmed and academic adjustment. The first 10 visits are free, but the wait list for an appointment can be up to three - five weeks. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If the need is urgent, but not life threatening, request an "urgent appointment" with CCS. They triage urgent requests in order of severity. An urgent visit may mean that you can be seen by a CCS counselor within 48 hours. Reach CCS at 614-292-5766.
