Glenwood Veterinary Clinic
This
is a veterinary externship in private practice. Students are paired
with veterinarians, and share with them the management of both elective
and emergency cases. Students get some hands-on training in a variety
of techniques as the case load allows.
GVC
is a 6 person practice. 5 veterinarians do primarily equine work, with
a small amount of food animal, and 1 does exclusively small animal
practice. 1 member is board certified in Surgery, and 1 is taking the
exam for board certification in February, 2012. 4 members have done
internships, and 1 is certified in acupuncture.
Library
with texts and current journals; computer/internet access; journal club
on Wed. mornings; rounds and case discussions daily
Students
are expected to work side by side with DVMs in case management,
including on nights and weekends. This may include ICU monitoring of
critical cases, going on rounds with ambulatory clinicians, working in
the hospital with medical and/or surgical cases, and barn treatments
with the intern.

hours/day and 6-7 days per week, depending on case load and the number
of externs at the facility at any one time. Externs usually will have a
day or 2 during their stay to visit areas of interest in the mountains
of Western Colorado.
