General Private Practice Experience is provided with emphasis on client communication, staff training, and practice management.

Private Companion Animal Practice Experience. The student will gain experience in performing patient examinations, formulating differential diagnoses lists, working through rule outs for that list, coming up with treatment options for the rule outs. Reading radiographs, assisting in surgeries, administering treatments to hospitalized patients, educating clients is also part of the experience students will gain. Practice management issues will also be discussed in addition to the administrative aspects of owning and running a business/practice.

AVMA Journals, practice trade magazines, Veterinary Information Network, internet seminars

Actively participate in physical exam and communication with clients. After a few days begin to form diagnostic rule outs, possible treatments, presentation of treatment options to client. Practice is open 9 am to 6 pm Monday thru Friday and the student should be available at those times.

The student will have free access to veterinarians Monday through Friday 9 am to 6 pm.
