Clientele consist of Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage, Pleasure, Western Performance and Rodeo horses, Arabians, small breeding farms. Types of Cases (estimated % by system or categories): 30% Surgical (40% soft tissue and 60% orthopedic), 40% Lameness, 25 % ambulatory, 5% medicine (60% ambulatory, 40% clinic).

Description Externs will be exposed to a variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical cases consisting of predominantly racehorses and sport horses. General anesthesia, lameness examinations, shockwave therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, platelet rich plasma intralesional injections, and selective medical procedures are just a few of the other services provided by the clinic. Diagnostic imaging modalities available include digital and computer radiography, digital ultrasonography, resting video endoscopy, and dynamic respiratory endoscopy.

Description Experience: Student will experience a high case load of lameness exams, orthopedic and soft tissue sx, a small amount of internal medicine (pleural pneumonia, sick foals) and a small amount of repro.

Printable program description Description We are a 24/7 full service referral hospital with ambulatory service and reproduction center. This together with the number of cases seen each day and the knowledge and expertise of the veterinarians provide a strong learning environment. The hospital is staffed with three Board Certified Surgeons and one Board Certified Internist and has an inpatient caseload of approximately 1750 patients annually.

Description The Randwick Equine Centre is a 20 veterinarian, purely equine practice. The practice services a wide range of horses, from miniature ponies to elite Thoroughbred race horses. Although we have extensive experience servicing the Thoroughbred racing industry, a wide range of breeds and conditions are treated on a daily basis.
