In addition, we are the only local emergency clinic to see birds, exotic pets and wildlife. There are five practices in the building including surgery, internal medicine, derm, ophtho and rehab.

Description Emergency/critical care small animal externship at AVETS consists of a mentored 2 week experience in emergency & critical care. The student will shadow one of four DACVECC specialists as well as C/CC residents and occasionally experiences with emergency clinicians.

Description For over a decade, Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) has been Long Island's premier resource for providing advanced medical care for dogs, cats and exotic pets for area family veterinarians. Long Island Veterinary Specialists is a state-of-the-art referral hospital, occupying more than 20,000 square feet and staffed with over 180 trained professionals. Patients are not only referred from the tri-state region, but from Florida, Texas, Vermont, the Caribbean and as far away as Spain and Japan.

Description The student will be able to spend time in each specialty provided including medicine, radiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics and general surgery. We have a fully equipped hospital for the various specialty activities. Details Associate Veterinarians and special expertise available All veterinarians are board certified. Description Senior veterinary students rotate through our E/CC service which is staffed by experienced emergency clinicians and interns. Typical cases: trauma, diabetic ketoacidosis, IMHA, GDV, hemoabdomen.

Type of Experience: Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists is a 24 hour specialty and emergency facility. Specialties include surgery, neurology, oncology, internal medicine and ophthalmology.

Description PET is a 24 hour emergency and critical care referral practice. We see the regular clinics emergencies at night and if they are critical they remain here. Critical cases that need 24 hour monitoring are transferred here overnight and most remain at our clinic. During the day it is slower but we see walk-ins and cases when the regular vets are overbooked. We do not do routine surgeries such as spays and neuters, dentistry, and rarely do vaccines. Open nights, weekends and holidays. Exposure to a variety of cases. Small animal and exotics treated.

Description The student would be expected to fully immerse themselves into the emergency and critical care rotations at the QMH. The QMH is a small animal hospital dealing with mostly dogs and cats. We are a referral hospital receiving both secondary and tertiary referrals from veterinary practitioners. We also have a first-opinion emergency service that runs evnenings/nights and all day weekends.

Type of Experience: Opportunity for the senior veterinary student to perform sterilization procedures in a high volume clinic. This allows the student to develop skills and confidence in routine surgical procedures.
