Small animal general practice and surgery
Student will shadow 2-3 veterinarians during routine appointments, sick appointments, hospital rounds. Participate in hospital rounds to discuss differential diagnoses and help establish treatment plans. Student will perform fecal parasite exams, cytology, skin scrapings, draw blood, place IV catheters. Student will assist or perform under supervision routine spay/neuter or declaw surgeries. Assist with taking radiographs, perform dental cleanings, etc

JAVMA, AAHA journals, library, computers/web available; periodic continuing education scheduled in clinic.
Responsibilities expected include performing physical exams, administer vaccines and medications as needed, fecal exams, reading cytologies, taking radiographs, performing dental cleanings, prepping patients for surgeries, cleaning packs, performing routine surgeries under supervision, draw blood samples, place IV catheters.
Student will have direct access to veterinarians 8 hours per day 5 days per week.
