Description
We are a small animal practice that strives to practice high quality medicine and surgery. We see many exotics including birds, reptiles, and pocket pets. We have an underwater treadmill and a veterinarian with training in physical rehabilitation.
We also have a veterinarian with an interest in advanced dentistry and the ability to perform dental radiographs, surgical extractions, and root canals. We also have a veterinarian with an interest in behavior medicine and weight management.
Our 4th veterinarian has a strong interest in avian medicine and works with a raptor rehab center as well as the aviary in Pittsburgh. We do see after hours emergencies. We have an in house laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound, etc. We feel our practice would offer a veterinary student a well-rounded experience in small animal private practice.

Responsibilities
- 4th year veterinary students will have the opportunity to help with appointments, surgery, and hospitalized cases.
- They are allowed to perform physical exams, recommend and interpret diagnostics, and make treatment recommendations all under the direct supervision of a veterinarian.
- Our veterinarians will also exam every patient seen by a student, and discuss work-ups with clients.
- Students may assist in surgery as well as perform spays and neuters for our local rescue organizations.
- Students may be expected to help with hospitalized patients overnight and assist in seeing after hours emergencies.
Student Supervision
Students generally work 40 - 45 hours per week and are always in direct contact with one of the veterinarians. We generally assign them to work with a different veterinarian everyday so that they may learn from all of us and appreciate different personalities, philosophies, and approaches to medicine.
