Description
The Neurology/Neurosurgery Service sees approximately 1200 referral cases a year. At that number, approximately 350-400 are admitted for extensive evaluation and definitive treatment or surgery. Student will be treated like an intern and will be assisted with cases she sees/admits. Student will be closely supervised and guided; will be expected to read and to be prepared to engage in substantive discussions about all cases.

We have a linear accelerator, spiral CT, doppler flow ultrasound & MRI on our hospital grounds.

- 3 boarded internists
- 2 boarded surgeons
- 1 boarded neurologist
- 1 boarded dermatologist
- 1 board eligible cardiologist
- support by 2 radiologists
Educational Resources
The student will be afforded the opportunity toa ttend rounds daily, to use our computers to access databases, to attend intern presentations, and to review timely journal & textbook references pertinent to hospitalized patients.
Responsibilities
- Obtain clinical history
- Perform examinations
- Formulate lists of possible role-outs
- Provide a plan for evaluation
- Write up daily treatment sheets for all patients admitted
Student Supervision
Student will work supervisor approximately 8 to 12 hours a day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
