College of Veterinary Medicine

Shadowing doctors through a typical clinical day including examinations & surgery (dental cleanings +/- extractions, declaw, spay, neuter and potential gastropexy, foreign body, third eyelid or stenotic nares repair, laceration repairs, etc). One doctor does see reptiles, but we focus primarily on canine & feline. My particular interests are behavior, internal medicine, and dentistry.

Banfield computer databases, doctors library of books, JAVMA and Clinican's Brief, Veterinary Medicine Journals

Student will also have opportunities to place iv catheters, draw blood, run lab tests, assist with anesthetic monitoring including intubation if comfortable. Student will shadow doctor in exam rooms and will be able to help with the work-up and treatment plan of medical cases. Student will have practice examining pets, especially those dropped off for treatment.

My schedule during the week of Michael Brodt's requested internship is: Tuesday Mach 13th-Saturday March 19th, 9 am -7 pm & Wednesday March 23rd through Saturday March 26th 9 am-7 pm. I also work Sunday 10 am-5 pm on the 27th. Doctors are available at our practice Mon-Sat 9-7 and Sun 10-5.
