Twelve veterinary students, representing first, second, and third-year classes, have been chosen to become the first College of Veterinary Medicine Student Ambassadors. The ambassadors will serve as representatives at a variety of special events such as New Student Orientation, Open House, Midwest Veterinary Conference, White Coat Ceremony, Honors and Awards Ceremony, Oath and Hooding, admissions interview events, and alumni activities.

This year's annual College Research Day is planned for April 12. Poster presentations and a keynote will highlight the day's activities.
Dean King Awarded Melcher Leadership AwardDr. Lonnie King, dean of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, was recently awarded the 2012 AAVMC Senator John Melcher, DVM Leadership in Public Policy Award from the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC).

Dr. Yasuko Rikihisa, professor in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, has been named The Ohio State University 2011 Innovator of the Year. Additionally, Dr. Gustavo Schuenemann, assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, and Dairy Extension Specialist, was nominated for the Early Career Innovator of the Year Award. Dr. Caroline Whitacre, vice president in the Office of Research, announced the awards at the November Research Day event held at the Ohio Union. Dr.
Six graduate students of multiple disciplines, including two from the College of Veterinary Medicine, traveled to Uganda as part of an initiative for interdisciplinary and international learning.
On Wednesday, September 21, the Class of 2015 began their veterinary school careers. The class of 162 outstanding students was selected out of more than 6,200 applicants to colleges of veterinary medicine across North America. The class includes 143 women and 19 men, including gardeners, a certified high-ropes instructor, and an investment analyst. The students have a wide variety of interests including boxing, dancing, volunteering, and Frisbee golf.
