Congratulations to Dr. Mo Saif, emeritus faculty member and former director of the Food Animal Health Research Program (FAHRP) in Wooster. He was elected to the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Hall of Honor this year in conjunction with the 18TH WVPA Congress held in in Nantes, France.
Trap-Neuter-Return or TNR is what the strategy is called. Dr. Jeanette O'Quin, clinical assistant professor at the college, was quoted in the Columbus Dispatch story focusing on the TNR program. She stated, "Some people still aren’t sold on its benefits.
Dr. Tony Buffington, professor of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, is featured as one of two pet nutritionists consulted on a news story about "5 Things You Have Got To Know About Feeding Your Dog or Cat." There are many options to choose from when looking for food to feed your pet, and once the type of food is decided, the amount of food your pet receives is the next decision.
Dr. Philip (Phil) W. Murdick, emeritus professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, died on Saturday August 24th at the age of 84. Dr. Murdick received his undergraduate degree and his DVM (1952), MS (1958) and PhD (1964) all from The Ohio State University. He joined the faculty in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1956, progressing through the faculty ranks and becoming a professor in 1969.
An OnCampus newspaper story features Dr. Tom Rosol, professor, Department of Veterinary Biosciences, who helped create the E. Scholar program through the Technology Commercialization Office. He maintains the role of coordinator and liaison to all of Ohio State’s E. Amy Kabel, owner of her dog, Hank, was told that to remove a tumor the size of a grapefruit from Hank's stomach, he would have to have his leg amputated to operate. Amy went to Ohio State for a second opinion, and she is so thankful that she did. Channel 6 interviewed Hank and Amy for a news story. Dr. Andrew Bowman, who is finishing his doctoral degree in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine, was recently featured in a podcast by Ion Torrent, explaining the One Health concept of bi-directional influenza transmission from swine to humans, and from humans to swine at agricultural fairs.
