Unique collaboration recovers spaniel's hearing

After Sandy Breckenridge started noticing that her Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Murphy, stopped responding to normal noises, she took him to see Dr. Peter Scheifele at University of Cincinnati’s FETCH-LAB, the Facility for the Education and Testing of Canine Hearing and Lab Animal Bioacoustics. Scheifele founded FETCH-LAB in 2007 and is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at UC.

Veterinary Student Featured on University Website

Adam Pendleton, a third-year veterinary student at the College of Veterinary Medicine, was featured on The Ohio State University's website. The feature highlights 15 students and the variety of projects they engaged in during spring.

 

Alumnus received National Institute for Animal Agriculture Award

Dr. Tony Forshey, Chief of Animal Health and State Veterinarian for the Ohio Department of Agriculture, received the National Institute for Animal Agriculture's prestigious Chairman's Award during the organization's annual conference.  The Chairman's Award is given to an outstanding volunteer for his unselfish dedication and tireless devotion to the advancement of animal agriculture.

Celebrate National Pet ID Week with a Microchip April 16-22

According to a research study, the return rate for lost animals with microchips was 20 times higher for cats and 2 ½ times higher for dogs compared to lost animals without that identification device.

In celebration of National Pet ID Week, the Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center’s Community Practice will be offering a free year registration through HomeAgain (a $27.99 value) for microchips purchased April 16-22.
