Veterinary Medicine featured on Big 10 Network show

The television program “O-H-I-O” airs on the Big 10 Network and features stories about Ohio State that are not related to sports. Episode 110 includes a segment called “Dogs teach us about cancer” and features interviews with Drs. Lonnie King, Cheryl London, Michael Lairmore and Stacey Fossey. The full episode airs next Tuesday, October 26 at noon. Individual segments are available now on The Ohio State University WATCH Channel on YouTube.

Treating the flu before it damages lungs

Dr. DavisWorldwide, seasonal influenza epidemics cause more than 300,000 deaths each year (and pandemics like the Spanish Flu of 1918 killed tens of millions). Dr. Ian Davis, assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, has been awarded a new National Institutes of Health grant to study influenza virus, which causes a type of pneumonia.

Dr. Lonnie King appointed Executive Dean of the Health Sciences

TuesdayDr. Lonnie King, Executive Vice President and Provost Joseph A. Alutto announced that he is recommending to President Gee that Lonnie J. King, Ruth Stanton Chair in Veterinary Medicine and dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, be appointed as the executive dean of the health sciences. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, his appointment is effective immediately.
