Vet Student Awarded AWVF Scholarship

Jennell BigriggJennell Bigrigg, a third year DVM student, was awarded a scholarship by the Association for Women Veterinarians Foundation sponsored by Central Life Sciences. Bigrigg was selected by a four person committee from more than 97 applicants based on leadership potential, career path and influence in veterinary medicine both in and outside of school .

Alumni Class Updates Move Online

The alumni class updates, which provide current information on alumni who have graduated from the college, are now available online. Previously printed in the College of Veterinary Medicine's annual report and "The Speculum," the updates can be viewed here. The updates are ordered in an easy to use format, alphabetically by decade and class year.

New Dean to Lead Alumni Reunion Weekend Activities

Dr. Lonnie King, dean of the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine as of September 1, will present two talks at the 2009 Alumni Reunion Weekend, which will be held September 11 through 13, 2009.

College Experts Featured on University Web page

The Ohio State University now has a Web page that lists experts on H1N1 preparedness, in order to offer expertise on the issue from qualified faculty and staff at one of the nation's top research universities. Two faculty members in the College of Veterinary Medicine are featured - Dr. Richard Slemons, professor, Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, and Dr.

Molly The Pony Will Be Visiting Ohio State

This event is free and open to the public

Molly the Pony, one of the world's only prosthesis-wearing ponies, will be visiting the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine August 6 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Visitors will have the chance to hear the presentation "It's All About Molly" at 5 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the Wexner Auditorium in the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building (VMAB) by Dr. Rustin Moore, Bud and Marilyn Jenne Professor and chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.

Molly Visits Central Ohio

August 3 to 7, 2009

Molly will be traveling to several other private event locations in central Ohio, listed below, in addition to visiting Ohio State's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Vet Student Awarded Second Place at Morris Animal Foundation Annual Meeting

Aimee Jalkanen, DVM Class of 2010, won second place in the poster competition at the Morris Animal Foundation Annual Meeting. Jalkanen was awarded a Veterinary Student Scholarship from MAF last summer and her poster presented the research she completed, "MicroRNA Profiling of Canine Osteoblasts and Osteosarcoma Cells."
