Farm to Table Study Program featured in Impact magazine

Led by Dr. Armando Hoet, director of Ohio State’s Veterinary Health Program, the Farm to Table Study Program sends 15 students from Ohio State’s Veterinary Public Health program to countries in Latin America to study local food processing and production. Through the program, students meet with business, food, and government leaders to discuss issues and impacts related to food processing and production, especially with regards to food security.  Participants have already been using their experiences from the Farm to Table Study Program to make positive impacts in the Department of Homeland Security and the Food and Drug Administration. Previous destinations include Costa Rica and Uruguay, and Dr. Hoet plans to send program participants to Chile in 2013. Eventually, he would like the program to grow enough to allow for several trips a year.
