Dr. Jeff Lakritz, professor of Veterinary Clincal Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, was recently interviewed by 10TV News for a story concerning milk safety. Milk is routinely tested for the presence of antibiotics before it is distributed to stores. Milk safety protocol seems to be effective as the Ohio Department of Agriculture reports that in the last 15 years, no antibiotics have been detected in finished milk products. However, only 6 of the most common antibiotics used for dairy cattle are tested for, and the FDA is looking to expand that list to 26 antibiotics. Follow the link to the full story to learn more.
