College awarded for collaborations in Medicine and the Arts

Congratulations to the College of Veterinary Medicine for being recognized by the OSU Wexner Medical Center's "Medicine and the Arts" initiative, a program that advocates art's role in supporting healing during treatment and recovery. Drs. Michelle Harcha and Kate Hayes-Ozello recently accepted a certificate on behalf of the college for receiving the Sir William Osler, MD Award, which celebrates collaborations in Medicine and the Arts. Our faculty, staff and students have participated in dance, orchestra, the Arts Fair and the College of Veterinary Medicine chorus called the "HoofBeats".

At the honors reception, Maureen McGovern's inspirational music helped thank an audience of artists and organizations that have supported Medicine and the Arts since its modest beginning in 2009.  CEO of the Wexner Medical Center Dr. Steven Gabbe noted the importance of the program in creating a more humanistic environment and thanked special guests from BalletMet, Columbus Children's Theatre, the Columbus Museum of Art, Thurber House, the Wexner Center for the Arts and others.
