The College of Veterinary Medicine at OSU is part of a multi-center clinical trial of the new Canine Total Knee Replacement (BioMedtrix, Inc.). Outcome measures include radiography and gait analysis using the TekScan pressure-sensitive walkway.
We are working with BioMedtrix, Inc. to determine the safety and efficacy of cementless fixation for the new BioMedtrix canine TKR implant. Outcome measures include radiography, DEXA, gait analysis, wear testing, mechanical testing and histology/histomorphometry.
We are working with a corporate sponsor on a preclinical study to evaluate the safety of a novel metal-on-metal articulation for total hip replacement.
Implant failure is a rare but catastrophic potential complication following total hip replacement. We are currently analyzing a limited series of failed implants in an effort to identify the cause of failure. Outcome measures include scanning electron microscopy and elemental analysis (EDAX).
