The Department of Veterinary Clinical
Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine announces
an outstanding opportunity for a full-time clinical track faculty position in
Small Animal Internal Medicine. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent
degree. Specialty board certification (ACVIM or ECVIM) is preferred, but
board-eligible candidates will also be considered. The appointee will join the
Small Animal Internal Medicine Service, and would become the fifth full-time
faculty member in addition to a part-time faculty and two professor emeriti.
The Small Animal Internal Medicine (SAIM)
Service is located within the comprehensive Veterinary Medical Center with
state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including endoscopy, cystoscopy,
laser lithotripsy, laparoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, computed
tomography, 3 Tesla MRI, Interventional Radiology/Medicine suite, 24-7 small
animal emergency and critical care service, and a newly renovated SAIM
exam/treatment facility with contiguous SAIM Student Learning Center.
Teaching responsibilities will include
lectures, laboratories, and clinical teaching of small animal internal medicine
and related topics to students, interns, residents, and graduate students. The
candidate is expected to foster a broad and diverse caseload in internal
medicine, including gastroenterology, respiratory, urology, endocrinology, and
infectious disease through the delivery of efficient and effective service to
clients and referring private practitioners and the provision of high-quality
patient care. Candidates with a special interest in endocrinology, respiratory,
infectious disease and/or clinical pharmacology are especially encouraged to
apply. Faculty are also expected to be involved in professional and community
outreach, continuing education, committee service, and curriculum development.
Candidates will be assigned up to 75% time in
clinics, including patient management, client service, clinical teaching of
students and advanced training of interns and residents. Sponsored research is
not required for clinical-track faculty, but clinical research, publications or
other scholarly activities to advance clinical veterinary medicine are expected
and encouraged.
Faculty are encouraged to develop
collaborative endeavors with clinicians and scientists within the College and
across the University. Excellent collaborative opportunities are available in
the Departments of Veterinary Biosciences and Veterinary Preventive Medicine
within the College as well as other units across the University campus,
including the comprehensive OSU Health Sciences Center, which is within walking
