Specifying an Enrollment Type will determine whether you enter a number of groups or a number of users (students).

For the purpose of this lesson we will select the default option, # of Groups - No Auto Enrolllment. If we assume this lesson is for a core class within the CVM curriculum we can enter 10 in the Number of Groups field. This will create 10 groups allowing us to manually assign 14 students to each group (assuming 140 students in each CVM core course). Click Create to allow Carmen to create the Lab category and 10 associated groups. Note: To minimize confusion, Additional Options will be covered later in the lesson. |

Once you have created your first Category you have the ability to add additional groups (over the number originally specified in the Number of Groups field) to the category from the Add Group (
You may also begin enrolling users via the Enroll Users ( For the purpose of this lesson we will return to the Category List.

Create a second Category by clicking the New Category ( Follow the steps already outlined for creating a new Category. For the purpose of this lesson use "Projects" as the Category Name and "Category for student project work groups" as the Description of the Category. Select "# of Groups - Self Enrollment" in the Enrollment Type dropdown box and enter "10" for the Number of Groups.
Do not forget to click Create when you have completed entering the Category Name, Description, Enrollment Type and Number of Groups/Users (depending on which Enrollment Type is chosen). Note: If you need to review how to create a Category, please review the New Category instructions. |
