Category Setup Options

Previously we discussed what each Enrollment Type was used for and whether you specified a Number of Groups or Number of Users for each Enrollment Type.

In addition to Number of Groups/Users there are other options/advanced properties which become available depending on which Enrollment Type you select. 

If Groups of # or # of Groups is selected in the Enrollment Type dropdown box an Advanced Properties section will become available directly under the Enrollment Type/Number of Groups selections.

Note: Only Groups of # or # of Groups have these advanced properties. You will not see these advanced properties appear if # of Groups - No Auto Enrollments, Groups of # - Self Enrollment, or # of Groups - Self Enrollment is selected.

Advanced Properties allows you to specify what happens in the event new students are added to the course.

Groups Options

• Auto-Enroll New Users
  • Check this option if it is possible new students may be added to the course after groups have been initially created.
  • This allows Carmen to automatically assign new students to a group.
  • If Groups of # is selected Carmen will enroll new students in a group which may not have an equal number of students as other groups, or will create new groups as appropriate.
  • If # of Groups is selected Carmen will assign new students to a group based on whether all groups have the same number of students. If all groups already have the same number of students, Carmen will randomly assign the new student(s) to a group. This may upset the equality of students in each group.
• Randomize users in Groups
  • This option will allow Carmen to randomly select users for each group (default).
  • If this option is not checked Carmen will assign students to groups alphabetically.
