The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine's Community of Inclusion hosted its first annual Kick-Off and Welcome Reception on Tuesday, September 20th.
The event, which brought around 50 guests, served as an introduction to the college's Community of Inclusion Certificate Program. The program has three levels of possible participation, only one level attainable per academic year. All activities that earn the titles are centered around diversity and inclusion, both major focuses of the college. More information regarding the certificate program can be found here.
The main attraction of the event was a panel (pictured) of College of Veterinary Medicine students, staff, and faculty. The panel was asked various questions on the topic of diversity and inclusion by Dr. Mary Jo Burkhard. The questions broached subjects such as "whether an aspect of inclusion/level of diversity affected why they chose The College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University." The panel was inspiring in their courage to share with and educate the crowd with their insight and experiences.
